“My times are in Your hands” Psalm 31.15 The Providence of God

 Ps 135:5-7
5I know that the Lord is great,
that our Lord is greater than all gods.
The Lord does whatever pleases him,

in the heavens and on the earth,
in the seas and all their depths.
He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth;
he sends lightning with the rain
and brings out the wind from his storehouses.
Compare
Job 37:6-13 (NIVUK)
He says to the snow, “Fall on the earth,”
and to the rain shower, “Be a mighty downpour.”
So that everyone he has made may know his work,
he stops all people from their labour.[a]
The animals take cover;
    they remain in their dens.
The tempest comes out from its chamber,
the cold from the driving winds.
10 The breath of God produces ice,
and the broad waters become frozen.
11 He loads the clouds with moisture;
he scatters his lightning through them.
12 At his direction they swirl around
over the face of the whole earth
to do whatever he commands them.
13 He brings the clouds to punish people,
or to water his earth and show his love.

Done with love
Matt 5:45 He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
He knows He sees.
Matt10:29 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.[a]
Acts 17:24-28 24 ‘The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 “For in him we live and move and have our being.”[b] As some of your own poets have said, “We are his offspring.

Our Response then
Prov 3:5,6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]

London Councils Christian Network

Doreen setting up
On the 25th of April a joint Christian groups had a celebration.
There are 33 borough authorities in London; as well as The Greater London Authority and Parliament.
Of those 33, between 8 and 10 groups were represented. We also had Remi came. She used to work for Tower Hamlets, and now works for the Courts of Justice.
The vision we wanted to express was to see all the London Boroughs Christian groups to feel a sense of togetherness and support.
We (Tower Hamlets Christian Prayer Group) hosted the evening.

Trevor and Ros from Transform Work UK came along. Trevor lead worship.
Lillian gave a rousing preach, encouraging us to trust God in seeing this through.
We then broke down into groups to discuss possible challenges or pitfalls and to see what God was saying to us in how we would play our part.
We then had a feed back session of what we discussed. Some of of the points that came out where very good. This made us feel the start was being built on a firm foundation.
Lillian called us to much decant prayer after we had asked for volunteers to fulfill the various roles needed.

Farewell to Evelyn

Today we gave a fond farewell to our lovely sister Evelyn. She had been with us for just two years. She told us today that it was Flora who first asked her to come along.

Many people shared their memories of her and how God had used her to bless the group. We thank God for Evelyn. She has such a serving heart. She always wanted to get involved and be a help to anyone who was need of help. She said in response she did not know they were for her and felt quite overwhelmed.

Various words of encouragement were given to her.

Evelyn was especially thrilled that Lizz Hameed and Kal came along from Albert Jacob House.

She will be sadly missed.

Putting on the Armour of God by Kemi Shoyoye

The dictionary defines Armour as a protective covering made of metal and used in combat.
I would like to add for it to be effective it must tried and tested, fits us properly, and allows us to move freely.
1 Samuel 17:37-39 (NKJV)
37 Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”
And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”
38 So Saul clothed David with his armour, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail. 39 David fastened his sword to his armour and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off.
Why bother to put on the whole amour?
1.     Ability to stand against all enemies ( v11 – 14)
2.     Ability to withstand all attacks (v13)
3.     Ability to quench every fiery dart of Satan ( v16)

So what are the pieces of this armour and how can we put them on?
Truth: Belt (holds up the whole armour)

John 14:6 (NKJV)
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 8:32 (NKJV)
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 17:17 (NKJV)
17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

Seek the truth and have a true knowledge of God and His word (as it effects your walk). The truth will keep us from sin and the schemes of the devil and give us an understanding of the importance of put on the other pieces of the armour.

Righteousness: Breastplate (protects vital organs e.g heart, out of which flows the issues of life)

Take on the righteous and merit of Christ (so God see’s us as righteous).
Maintaining a right relationship with God and man, such as obeying the ten commandments.

Matt 5:6
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Proverbs 10:2, 3,6 ,16,25,30,31,32 (NKJV)

2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
3 The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish; But He casts away the desire of the wicked.
6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
16 The labour of the righteous leads to life, the wages of the wicked to sin.
25 When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation.
30 The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not inhabit the earth.
31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut out.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

Peace: Shoes

Romans 12:18 (NKJV)
18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

It is our walk and conduct, not our talk that will leads others to Christ, through the help of the Holy Spirit.

Faith: Shield

We need not just to believe in God but all that He has promised us in His word. We need to have a knowledge of the word of God, concerning the issues and challenges at hand.

E.g. Matt 4:1 – 11 (Jesus used the word against Satan)

Like Jesus we can use the word in faith to counteract all the attacks of the enemy. So we must be filled with the word.

Salvation: Helmet
The battle begins in our mind ( as its a spiritual battle). The devil is trying to separate us from God.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Ps 62: 1,2,12

Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation.
2 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense;I shall not be greatly moved.

Word of God: Sword (not a pen knife)

Psalm 91:4
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armour and protection
Psalm 119:133
Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.

In conclusion,
Col 3:10
Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
